BPD seek help identifying suspect in Valley Plaza Mall grand theft

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) β€” Bakersfield police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of stealing a bag containing a wallet, jewelry and more than $950 in cash at the Valley Plaza Mall.

The Bakersfield Police Department said the grand theft happened at about 9 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2026, at the mall at 2701 Ming Ave. Police said the victim briefly left a personal bag under a chair near the Zales store, and the bag was taken.

The suspect is described as about 5’8″ to 5’10” with a medium build and a mustache. Police said he was wearing a tan or white baseball-style cap, a brown shirt, blue jeans, and dark-colored boots, and carrying a black backpack…
