Family Justice Center agreement with Bakersfield Recovery Services to return to Kern County supervisors meeting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The proposed agreement between the Kern County District Attorney’s Office and the Bakersfield Recovery Services is back on the agenda for the supervisors’ consideration during their Tuesday Board meeting.

DA Cynthia Zimmer chose Bakersfield Recovery Services to fill the role previously held by The Open Door Network in providing services to Kern County victims of crime at the Family Justice Center.

Criticism made over connections between Kern County DA and proposed provider at Family Justice Center

The DA previously sent a letter to ODN expressing its desire to find a new service provider, leading to public clashes between the DA and ODN’s Chief Executive Officer Lauren Skidmore.

Bakersfield Recovery Services’ leadership is also in charge of Psychiatric Wellness Center, a center that former county supervisor Zack Scrivner — Zimmer’s nephew — attends for his diversion program…
