Final defendant in Steele Ave homicide takes plea deal

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The third and final defendant in a shooting that killed a bicyclist on Steele Avenue in east Bakersfield has taken a plea deal, according to court records.

Shugie Rubio pleaded no contest this week to assault with a gun and accessory charges in exchange for a sentence of four years and eight months in prison, prosecutors said.
