$9 MILLION BUST: Bakersfield, CA Trucker Arrested in Putnam County, Indiana After ISP Trooper Seizes Nearly 400 Pounds of Cocaine on I-70

CLOVERDALE, IN — A routine traffic stop for speeding on I-70 resulted in one of the largest narcotics seizures of the year after an Indiana State Police trooper discovered nearly 400 pounds of suspected cocaine hidden in a tractor-trailer.

On Monday morning, April 20, 2026, an Indiana State Police Criminal Interdiction Trooper stopped a commercial motor vehicle traveling eastbound near the 37-mile marker in Putnam County. The vehicle was initially pulled over for exceeding the posted speed limit.

During the stop, the trooper identified multiple criminal indicators while speaking with the driver, identified as Harmandeep Singh, 27, of Bakersfield, California. Following a consensual search of the tractor and trailer, investigators discovered several duffle bags and cardboard boxes containing approximately 392 pounds (178 kilograms) of suspected cocaine
