Bakersfield police mark 5 years since K9 Officer Jango was killed in the line of duty

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — Bakersfield police are marking five years since the death of K-9 Jango, the first Bakersfield Police Department police dog to die in the line of duty.

Jango was shot and killed in April 2021 while helping officers catch a car thief in southeast Bakersfield.

Police K-9 Jango was a Belgian Malinois and was born in the Netherlands on November 15, 2015. He was united with his human partner and best friend, Officer Brock Mueller, in March 2017.
