Fire prevention agency issues seasonal fire restrictions in Central Valley

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Due to dry conditions and high wildland fire danger in the region, the Bakersfield Field Office for the U.S. Wildland Fire Service issuing seasonal fire restrictions.

The restrictions, which were put in place in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management, will remain in effect until further notice and are issued in addition to the year-round statewide fire prevention order.

The seasonal fire restrictions are:

  • No campfires or wood or charcoal barbeques are allowed. Pressurized gas-powered stoves and grills are allowed with valid California Campfire Permits,
  • No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreation site or in an area at least three feet away from flammable materials,
  • No welding or using other torches with an open flame,
  • No motorized vehicles or tools powered by internal combustion engines,
  • No use of steel-jacketed, steel core or incendiary ammunition of any caliber, except with a California hunting license in accordance with California’s hunting regulations.
