» Witness Testimony in Attempted Murder, Robbery Retrial of Family Dollar Shooting

The retrial of Dionte Cain continued on June 3 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lawrence P. Fletcher-Hill, with prosecutors presenting their case in a 2024 armed robbery in North Baltimore.

Cain, 32, faces charges including attempted murder, armed robbery, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, multiple firearm offenses, and several counts of conspiracy. Investigators believe he and his co-defendant, 29-year-old Darnell Johnson, shot a 76-year-old man on the morning of April 2, 2024, after attempting to rob him in a Family Dollar parking lot on the 5300 block of York Road.

Last April, Johnson pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit armed robbery, acting as an accessory after the fact, and having a loaded handgun in a vehicle.
