BALTIMORE, Md. — Following a quiet conclusion to the weekend, hazardous weather is poised to return to the mid-Atlantic region on Monday, bringing the threat of severe thunderstorms, flash flooding, and sweltering temperatures.

The National Weather Service office in Sterling, Va. issued alerts warning residents that multiple rounds of thunderstorms are expected to develop Monday afternoon and continue into the late evening hours.
