BALTIMORE, Md. — Utility crews are working to restore power to tens of thousands of residents in Maryland following a wave of severe thunderstorms over the Fourth of July holiday weekend that knocked down trees, limbs, and power lines.
The storms, which struck on Saturday and Sunday, caused extensive damage across the Baltimore Gas & Electric service area. The utility company reported that the hardest-hit regions include Anne Arundel, Harford, and Baltimore counties.
BGE officials stated that more than 49,000 homes had their electricity restored by Sunday, aided by mutual assistance crews from out of state who arrived Sunday evening while the storms were still active. However, as of late Sunday afternoon, nearly 30,000 customers remained without power, including more than 14,000 in Harford County and over 8,600 in Baltimore County…
