Maryland is getting a new shipyard with 3,100 jobs
Maryland is set to get a major new industrial project at Sparrows Point, near the Port of Baltimore. Defense technology company Anduril plans to invest $3.7 billion in a high-tech shipyard that is expected to generate about 3,100 jobs.
The project is also connected to a $2.9 billion U.S. Navy contract for submarine components. Together, the investment and contract could represent up to $6.6 billion tied to the new Maryland operation.

Anduril’s project would give the property a new manufacturing purpose. Instead of producing steel, the site will be used to make specialized components for U.S. Navy submarines, creating a very different kind of industrial operation.
