The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) has announced command promotions and changes, effective from February 11, 2024. This is part of BPD’s strategic plan for Community Policing. Lieutenant Natalie Preston will be promoted to Major in the Western District. Lt. Preston has been with the BPD since 2000 and has served in various roles, including Public Safety Data Liaison. She is a Criminal Justice graduate from Coppin State University and is studying Addictions Counseling.
Lieutenant Gary Edmondson will become Captain of the Southern District. A BPD Academy graduate of 2004, Lt. Edmondson has served in several districts and was the Crisis Intervention Team/Crisis Response Coordinator. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from South Carolina State University.
The BPD also announced command changes. Major Matt Corell will oversee Education & Training. Captain Jeffrey DiPaola will move to the Southwestern District, and Captain Adam Lattanzi will join the Anti-Crime Section/Gun Violence Unit. Captains Daniel Popp and Alicia White will join the Public Integrity Bureau.
