Former Alabama Star Derrick Henry Back to His Usual Self In Ravens Debut

The NFL season kicked off last night as the Kansas City Chiefs hoisted their second consecutive Super Bowl banner before defeating the same team they beat in the AFC Championship Game 27-20.

However, this Baltimore Ravens team looked quite a bit different from the team that had their season ended by the Chiefs in January.

The biggest difference, both literally and figuratively, was the addition of Derrick Henry in the backfield alongside two-time NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson.

During the Ravens’ opening drive, every hope and dream of what Henry could bring to the table for Baltimore was on display as the 247-pound bruiser bulldozed his way into the endzone for the opening touchdown of the 2024 season.

On that opening drive, Henry carried the ball five times for 17 yards and that touchdown.

That was the bulk of Henry’s highlights in his first game in purple as he received just eight more carries for 29 more yards.

After a promising start, it was a rather disappointing debut for Henry, who signed a two-year $16 million deal in the offseason .
