Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Shuts Down Lamar Jackson-Jayden Daniels Comparisons

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has drawn comparisons to many standout players in his position. The Offensive Rookie of the Year frontrunner has continuously been equated to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was hearing none of it. After the Steelers’ victory over Washington, analysts asked Tomlin about Daniels’ achievements compared to Jackson’s.

Tomlin simply responded, saying, “Man, be real slow comparing people to Lamar Jackson. That’s a multi-time MVP, that’s Mr. Jackson. We’ll see Mr. Jackson in a few days.”

That’s no slight to the Commanders rookie, who has doubtlessly been the best offensive newcomer to the league this season. It’s just very few compare to the multi-time MVP, who is on track to win the third of his young career after a comeback victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Steelers play Jackson and the Ravens next Sunday. Even with Jackson’s prolific resume, he has struggled massively against Pittsburgh in his career. He is 1-3 against the Black & Gold, completing under 60 percent of his passes, with just four touchdowns to seven interceptions and a passer rating of 66.8.
