BALTIMORE, Md. (7News) — It was a violent and dangerous fad that reached a peak in the summer of 2024. Criminals called it “hugging,” but what it was was armed robberies targeting people leaving banks with cash in hand.
Now, seven people are facing serious charges in connection with a “bank jugging” spree that targeted dozens of victims across five Maryland counties, according to Attorney General Anthony Brown.
