The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) has rolled out plans for a pavement patching project on the stretch of I-83 known as the Jones Falls Expressway just north of Baltimore, a heads-up for motorists about potential overnight delays. Starting today, the $378,000 project covers a mile of roadway in both directions, extending from the city line to Old Pimlico Road in Baltimore County.
Though the work aims for an early June completion, the project schedule dictates that Sunday to Thursday nights might see lane closures from 9 p.m. through to the wee hours at 5 a.m., where patches of asphalt pavement in dire need of maintenance will face the contractor’s tools. According to the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration news release, transport regulars should brace for alternating single and double-lane closures on expressway segments straddling the Baltimore Light Rail tracks and the I-83 bridge above Old Pimlico Road.
