SUN: Maryland suspends license of home detention monitoring company

MARYLAND — Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services officials suspended the license of Advantage Sentencing Alternative Programs, Inc., one of the state’s largest home electronic monitoring detention companies, following a monthslong investigation prompted by the deaths of two Howard County teens.

“[Y]our license to operate is suspended immediately because the results of the investigation reflect that the public safety has been jeopardized by the actions or inaction of Advantage Sentencing Alternative Programs, Inc.,” a Tuesday letter from DPSCS to ASAP owner Elizabeth Winchester states.

ASAP was ordered on Tuesday to return its license to the Maryland Commission on Correctional Standards and discontinue supervision, as well as provide a list of individuals it’s been monitoring and their information…
