DC man to serve seven years for stealing dozens of guns from Maryland pawn shop

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A D.C. man was sentenced Friday to seven years in federal prison for the 2023 burglary of a Maryland pawn shop that resulted in dozens of guns being stolen, according to the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia.

Juwon Markel Anderson, 22, also known as “Peezy,” pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to commit firearms trafficking. He is additionally ordered to serve three years of supervised release after his sentence, according to the USAO.

According to court documents, on Dec. 13, 2023, Anderson and at least four other co-conspirators traveled from D.C. to the A&D Pawn Shop, a Federal Firearms Licensee located in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

There, one person used a portable saw to cut the locks on the security gate while another used a crowbar tool to pry open the door. Once inside, the four grabbed rifles, shotguns, and pistols, fleeing with at least 34 firearms…
