SUN: ‘You are not a fireworks expert’: Baltimore mayor urges safety ahead of July 4

Two days ahead of Baltimore’s July Fourth festivities, Mayor Brandon Scott wants to make sure residents stay safe with their celebrations at home.

Scott said Wednesday that despite the city’s official celebrations at the Inner Harbor and Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival, doctors and nurses often have to treat burns because of city residents being irresponsible with “illegal fireworks” on Independence Day.

“Every year, we know that folks decide that they have the skills to show off their own personal expertise and set up their own fireworks show,” Scott said. “ I promise you, you are not a fireworks expert. Do not cut your hand off, do not set your house on fire, do not do any of the things that will make you go viral on TikTok, as people have done time and time again.”…
