$50,000 Winning Powerball Ticket Sold at 7-Eleven

A Silver Spring man won a $50,000 Powerball prize after purchasing a ticket at the 7-Eleven on Fenwick Lane and splitting the winnings with a friend in Florida, as part of their routine joint lottery play. Full story below courtesy MD Lottery:

“It’s almost like it’s raining Powerball prizes as players from across the Maryland are claiming $50,000 third-tier prizes. A Silver Spring man won a $50,000 prize along with a good friend who claimed jointly on July 15, and a player from Ellicott City claimed a $50,000 prize on July 16.

The first Powerball ticket was sold at the 7- Eleven at 1319 Fenwick Lane in Silver Spring. For Mega Millions and Powerball, the player and his lottery-buying partner, who now lives in Florida, often buy five quick-pick tickets together, each making purchases in their respective state. On June 23, the Maryland player bought a single ticket for that evening’s drawing. He checked the app the next day and was pleasantly surprised when he saw he would end up with half of a $50,000 prize. Neither winner has immediate plans for the unexpected money, though one does have a trip to Asia planned and reports the cushion will come in handy…
