Poe Baltimore, the non-profit organization that stewards the historic Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum, proudly announces the award of several major grants totaling nearly $700,000. These funds will support both a significant expansion of the museum and enhanced public programming, strengthening efforts to preserve and share the legacy of one of America’s most enduring literary figures.
A transformational $579,000 grant from the Maryland Department of Energy will support a multi-year, multi-phase expansion project that will add up to 17,000 square feet to the museum’s footprint. The expanded facility will include space for permanent and special exhibitions, a new auditorium, a reading room, literary gardens, special collections, and upgraded museum operations and visitor amenities, including an expanded gift shop.
