It is a sad month for ice cream lovers as the longstanding Friendly’s location on Merritt Boulevard recently announced its impending closure.
The chain restaurant’s marquee, which typically advertises visits from beloved costumed characters, like Stitch and Mickey Mouse, posted a message last week to broadcast that its final day of operation will be on Sunday, August 24.
Following its closure, the 2,427 square foot building will be the sole vacant business in the Merritt Point Shopping Center. Otherwise, the shopping center is at 100% capacity. Neighboring tenants include the recently-opened Thrift Boutique, Kids First Swim School, Family Dollar and a Wells Fargo drive-thru bank, among others…
