BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Amid questions about an ankle monitor policy from the Department of Juvenile Services, data shows young people are getting arrested in Baltimore City, though at slightly fewer numbers than this time last year.
Last week, a 13-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a string of armed carjackings and robberies in Baltimore. The teen was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his arrest, according to Baltimore Police. The GPS coordinates from the ankle monitor were used to track the teen to various incidents, according to investigators. The teen has a history of 18 prior arrests for violent felonies, police noted as well.
“This is the core of what frustrates people is that you have a 13 year old, out there repeatedly committing violent felonies and he’s still out on the streets with an ankle monitor, that nobody is monitoring, clearly,” said Jason Johnson, former deputy BPD commissioner…
