Zaxby’s Continues Planned Expansion Into Maryland

In October, we reported that Zaxbys was entering the Maryland market with three locations along the Eastern Shore. Then, this past spring, Zaxbys announced that it’s planning to open four additional restaurants across Baltimore and Howard counties. Now, Biz Journals reports that the Prince George’s County Planning Board approved the county’s first Zaxby’s location.

Per the report, Zaxby’s has approval to build a 2,064SF restaurant with two drive-thru lanes at the intersection of Brooks Drive and Pennsylvania Avenue. The restaurant will go “in the northwest corner of the intersection, across the street from a Wawa.” An opening timeframe/date is not yet available. Zaxbys menu includes fried chicken sandwiches, wings, chicken fingers known as “Zingers,” crinkle-cut fries, and Texas toast.

The first Maryland Zaxbys restaurant is expected to open in Cambridge later this year, followed by additional locations near a new hospital development in Easton and along Route 50 in the West Ocean City and Berlin area.
