Safe Streets ex-lead faces new felony drug charges after past murder conviction, FBI raid

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — Maryland court records show that a former Safe Streets leader is now awaiting trial on two new felony drug-related charges, just over a year after leaving Baltimore’s flagship community violence interruption organization.

David Jason Caldwell, 36, was allegedly observed by Baltimore Police Department (BPD) detectives engaging in “behavior” that “was indicative of a high-level narcotics sale” on February 19 in the 1800 block of N Broadway, according to charging documents.

“[W]earing a blue jacket and blue sweatpants, later identified as Mr. David Caldwell, exit[ed] from the BMW, and [began] walking northbound on the even side sidewalk,” charging documents said…
