Baltimore man sentenced to 10 years for armed robberies, carjacking

BALTIMORE, MD—A Baltimore man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for his role in two armed commercial robberies and a carjacking in November 2022, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced.

U.S. District Judge Ellen L. Hollander sentenced John Hyman, 21, of Baltimore, followed by three years of supervised release. Co-defendant Devin Grimes previously received a 10-year sentence.

According to his guilty plea, Hyman and two other men committed the crimes on Nov. 29, 2022. They entered a 7-Eleven store in East Baltimore, where one of the men brandished a handgun while they robbed the cash register. Unbeknownst to them, the stolen money contained a tracker, which alerted police and allowed them to follow the suspects…
