Powerball jackpot soars to $1.8 billion, second-largest in U.S. history

BALTIMORE, MD—The Powerball jackpot for Saturday’s drawing has been raised to an estimated $1.8 billion, making it the second-largest lottery prize in U.S. history.

The new jackpot estimate, announced Friday, is an increase from the previously stated $1.7 billion. The lump sum cash value is an estimated $826.4 million. The largest Powerball jackpot on record was $2.04 billion, won in California in November 2022.

The drawing, the 42nd since the jackpot was last won on May 31, will be broadcast live from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee at 10:59 p.m. ET…
