WBFF-FOX Baltimore — The tragic death of 16-year-old Kanaiyah Ward in a Baltimore hotel has intensified calls for changes in Maryland’s foster care system.
Ward, who was under the supervision of the Department of Human Services and receiving services from Fenwick Behavioral Services, was found dead last week. Dispatch audio suggested a suspected overdose.
In response, Delegate Mike Griffith, who experienced foster care himself, has introduced the Never Again Act of 2026, also known as Kanaiyah’s Law.
