Baltimore City, MD (WBFF) — Frustrated by ongoing juvenile crime and a lack of transparency, Baltimore residents are preparing to confront city and state leaders at a public “Juvenile Justice Summit.” The event, organized by local activists, will be held at Hope City Church in Highlandtown on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.
Local activist and organizer, Arch McKown, says in recent years growing youth violence has remained a top concern in his community. “There’s a lot of work to be done,” McKown said, emphasizing the community’s growing concern over repeated offenses by the same juveniles.
Police Commissioner Richard Worley expressed his own frustration on WBAL radio last week, noting that three juveniles were recently arrested in connection to over a dozen burglaries, and yet, only one was detained while the others were released on ankle monitors. “We’re arresting the same kids, and the same kids are getting back out,” Worley said…
