Maryland health department police officer pleads guilty to attending classes while on-duty

A former Maryland Department of Health police captain has pleaded guilty to two counts of misconduct in office, after prosecutors said she attended university classes during her shifts.

Capt. Astarte Hunt, who started at the police department in 2016 and mainly worked at the Spring Grove Hospital in Catonsville, admitted in a guilty plea Wednesday that she repeatedly attended courses at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County during her shifts this spring, without approval from a supervisor…
