Annapolis police are investigating two shootings late Sunday night that rattled residents in the Clay Street and Newtowne Drive neighborhoods. No injuries have been reported, but at least one vehicle was struck by gunfire and several others were damaged.
Around 11:51 p.m. on November 9, Annapolis Police Department officers responded to the area of Clay Street and Abney Lane after multiple anonymous callers reported hearing gunfire. Officers canvassed the neighborhood and conducted knock-and-talks with residents, who confirmed they heard shots. Witnesses reported seeing two unknown male subjects running from Abney Lane toward West Washington Street. Despite the search, officers did not find any shell casings, other evidence, or property damage at that scene.
While officers were still on Clay Street, a second report of gunfire came in from the 700 block of Newtowne Drive. When police arrived there, they secured a crime scene and found a black iPhone on the ground in the area. Three vehicles appeared to have been damaged during the incident, including one vehicle that had been hit by gunfire.
