A new Toys“R”Us flagship store is expected to open at Arundel Mills mall in Hanover by the end of the month, according to a mall employee who spoke with us on Sunday. While an exact opening date has not yet been announced, the store is described as opening “very soon,” placing Maryland among the first states to receive one of the brand’s new full-scale locations.
The return of a flagship Toys“R”Us to Maryland is especially meaningful for local families. The nation’s very first Toys“R”Us opened in Rockville in 1957, laying the foundation for what would become one of the most recognizable toy retailers in the world. Now, nearly 70 years later, the brand is preparing to launch a major new store in the state during the peak of holiday shopping season.
This flagship opening is part of Toys“R”Us’ nationwide expansion announced in October, which includes both permanent flagship stores and seasonal holiday shops in partnership with Go! Retail Group.
