‘It’s all about money’ | As BGE layoffs loom, employees & union reps respond

MARYLAND (WBFF) — As layoffs at Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) loom, IBEW 410, the union representing BGE workers is responding, voicing concern about what it could mean for workers and ratepayers.

In a statement provided by BGE earlier this week, they said they have taken steps to optimize the business based on operational needs, and made a decision to scale back on certain projects, leading to a reduction in work. The statement said BGE “has made structural changes including a reduction in force.”

“Right now, it’s a waiting game for me,” said one BGE employee who wanted to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation…
