JESSUP, Md. (WBFF) — Maryland State Police (MSP) are investigating a state prison inmate death at Jessup Correctional Institution, officials announced Sunday.
On Dec. 13 around 8 p.m., the MSP Homicide Unit was contacted by investigators with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit (DPSCS IID) about an inmate death.
The preliminary investigation indicates the inmate, identified as 23-year-old Deon Smith, was found unresponsive in Building F. He was declared dead by emergency medical services personnel at the facility, according to MSP…
