BALTIMORE (WBFF) — The Maryland Zoo’s giraffe herd has grown again with the arrival of a young male named “Big Mac,” marking a significant step in the Zoo’s multi-year plan to expand and diversify its population of reticulated giraffes.
Big Mac, a one-and-a-half-year-old male, arrived in Baltimore on November 10 following a recommendation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan (SSP).
After several weeks in quarantine and gradual introductions to the resident giraffes, Big Mac is expected to make his public debut on Dec. 22…
