Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis has been recognized as one of Maryland’s top hospitals for maternity care in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care ratings.
U.S. News has evaluated hospitals that provide labor and delivery services since 2021. For the 2026 ratings, the organization reviewed a record 901 hospitals nationwide, using public-facing assessments intended to help expectant parents make informed decisions for uncomplicated births in consultation with their prenatal care providers.
How U.S. News Evaluates Maternity Care
According to U.S. News, the ratings are based entirely on objective quality measures. Those measures include C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, severe unexpected newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, and other performance indicators.
Maryland Hospitals Recognized For Maternity Care
In Maryland, U.S. News identified several hospitals as top performers for maternity care, including Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, along with facilities in Oakland, Baltimore, Columbia, Largo, and Bel Air.
Maternity Care Access Hospital Designation
The 2026 ratings also include a Maternity Care Access Hospital designation, which recognizes hospitals that provide essential maternity services in underserved areas.
