Baltimore man sentenced for role in $167K unemployment fraud scheme

BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A Baltimore man has been sentenced to 54 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for his involvement in an unemployment insurance fraud scheme.

U.S. District Judge Julie R. Rubin handed down the sentence for Duane Watts, 46, which stems from Watts’ use of personal identifying information from multiple victims, including those with mental or cognitive impairments, to cause financial losses exceeding $167,000.
