PARKVILLE, MD—A Baltimore County judge sentenced a former insurance agent and financial advisor to six months in jail on Friday following his conviction for defrauding a client and subsequently attempting to obstruct the legal process with a forged document.
Attorney General Anthony G. Brown announced the sentence for Michael C. Okolo, 68, of Parkville. The sentencing follows a December 2025 trial where a jury found Okolo guilty of two counts of insurance fraud and one count of obstruction of justice.
The prosecution successfully argued that Okolo misappropriated $36,500 from a client. The funds were originally intended for life insurance and annuity policy premiums, but Okolo took two incomplete checks provided by the client and made them payable to his own business.
