TOWSON, MD—The Baltimore County Police Department has announced the final arrangements for Detective Paul Hoke, a 30-year veteran of the force who died in the line of duty on January 2, 2026.
Detective Hoke, 49, passed away after collapsing while working voluntary overtime at the Towson precinct on New Year’s Eve. His death marks the eleventh line-of-duty loss in the history of the department. A dedicated public servant, Hoke began his career as a cadet in 1995 and had recently achieved a career goal by joining the Homicide/Missing Persons Unit in December 2025.
Community members and colleagues can pay their respects during two days of public viewings at the Ruck Funeral Home of Towson, located at 1050 York Road. The viewings are scheduled for Sunday, January 11, and Monday, January 12, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m…
