Baltimore Man Charged With Arson After Allegedly Setting His Car on Fire, Disrupting Train Service in Towson

A Baltimore man has been arrested after being accused of torching his own car on railroad tracks, disrupting train service. Darnell Anthony Brown, 53, faces multiple charges following the incident on December 19, 2025, per reports by the Maryland Fire Marshal’s Office and local fire authorities.

Brown’s vehicle, a 2010 Cadillac SRX, was found ablaze near the CSX tracks on Joppa Road, Towson, at around 2:45 a.m., as detailed by Nottingham MD. The Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company responded to the call, having to shut down train traffic for hours to control the fire and investigate, consequently raising questions as to the circumstances leading to the vehicle’s fiery end.

Brown’s initial claim to authorities was that he had been abducted, and his car had been stolen, which fueled the month-long investigation.
