Baltimore man faces life in prison following domestic assault in Edgewood

EDGEWOOD, MD—A Baltimore man faces a potential life sentence after a Harford County jury found him guilty this week of attempting to murder and rape a former partner during a violent ambush at her Edgewood home last summer.

Theodore Richards, Jr., 40, was convicted of attempted second-degree murder, attempted first-degree rape, attempted second-degree rape, and first-degree assault. The verdict followed a four-day trial presided over by the Honorable Paul W. Ishak in the Circuit Court for Harford County.

The charges stem from a series of events that began on June 23, 2025, when the victim ended her relationship with Richards.
