Maryland lawmakers unveil $25 minimum wage plan as debate picks up

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (7News) — Maryland lawmakers and labor groups gathered Tuesday at Lawyers Mall to launch the Maryland Living Wage for All campaign — a legislative effort to gradually raise the state’s minimum wage to $25 an hour and eliminate all sub-minimum wages, including for tipped workers.

At least six lawmakers, led by Delegate Adrian Boafo, joined workers and advocates for the rally, which supporters said responds to rising costs of housing, food, healthcare and childcare.

Organizers also pointed to new statewide polling conducted by Gonzalez Research & Media Services, which shows roughly two-thirds of Maryland voters support a significant minimum wage increase…
