$70K Cash Stash Seized As Chinese Cargo Ship Captain Nailed At Port Of Baltimore

CBP officers seized $70,737 in unreported currency from the captain of the M/V Sheng Ning Hai after a routine enforcement boarding at the Port of Baltimore on Thursday, Jan. 22, officials said.

After the bulk freighter — owned by China’s state-run COSCO Shipping Lines and flagged in China — arrived in Baltimore, officers asked the vessel’s master to declare how much currency was on board, a standard requirement during port inspections.
