Late-Night BW Parkway Crash Turns Deadly Near Fort Meade

A pre-dawn crash on the southbound Baltimore–Washington Parkway near the Route 32 exit by the NSA Fort Meade complex left a pedestrian dead early Sunday, shutting down part of the busy commuter route for hours. The collision happened around 3 a.m., and sections of the roadway were closed while emergency crews responded and investigators documented the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity or said what led up to the crash.

What officials say

U.S. Park Police told WMAR2 News that a pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on the southbound side of MD‑295 at Route 32. Investigators have not publicly stated why the person was on the parkway and say the case remains open.

The Maryland State Highway Administration reported that all lanes were back open by 11 a.m., according to the same WMAR2 News report, restoring traffic along the corridor after the extended overnight closure.
