Naval Academy Suspends Public Visits, Tightens Gate Access Under Increased Force Protection

The U.S. Naval Academy and Naval Support Activity Annapolis have increased Force Protection measures and suspended general public visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, citing current world events.

Gate Changes And ID Checks

Effective immediately, Gate 1 and the Visitor Control Center will close. Gate 8 and the turnstiles will remain open.

Security will move to 100% ID checks. Only people with DoD-issued Common Access Cards or DBIDS-issued ID cards will be permitted to walk or drive through Gate 8.
