BALTIMORE (WBFF) — A youth diversion program no longer in existence is at the center of conversation in City Hall after an inspector general report found alleged fraudulent invoices and Mayor Brandon Scott said his office is the victim.
The Office of Inspector General released a report March 17 about the SideStep program; a youth diversion pilot effort that’s no longer in place. Inspector General Isabel Cumming said she found multiple fraudulent invoices from at least two community based organizations, CBOs, that cost taxpayers “thousands of dollars.”
Sidestep was run through the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, MONSE. Now, Mayor Scott said, “MONSE and the city would be the victim here.”…
