Thunder, Downpours And Stiff Winds To Smack Baltimore Sunday

Sunday, April 5, 2026 – Baltimore is in for a wet and windy ride as a cold front rolls through the region. Showers move in this morning, with the best chance of thunderstorms between about 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Heavier downpours could briefly reduce visibility and slow traffic, especially on busier routes. Temperatures are expected to peak near 72°F before slipping back into the mid-60s once the front passes.

Afternoon Gusts And Timing

As the front pushes through, west winds should run near 12 mph, with gusts up to around 22 mph. Most spots are on track to see roughly a quarter to a half-inch of rain. A compact line of showers and embedded thunderstorms will march east through the midday and early afternoon hours, then clear out of most neighborhoods by late afternoon. The main concerns are gusty winds within thunderstorms and brief bursts of heavier rain, according to the National Weather Service.
