‘A lot of passion’: Public meeting for Baton Rouge’s City Park master plan brings high tensions

A community meeting to address the future of one of Baton Rouge’s most notable parks sparked tense reactions, with a pair of people being escorted by police out of the gathering Thursday night.

More than 150 people packed into the McKinley High Alumni Center to hear about two potential designs for the future of City-Brooks Park. The proposals are a part of a master plan aimed to transform the grounds “into a world-class, central park experience,” according to BREC, the parish’s parks agency.

A flash point of the plan is determining the future of City Park Golf Course.
