BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A project to build new student housing on Southern University’s Baton Rouge campus as enrollment increases is set to break ground Thursday.
Chancellor John K. Pierre calls the development located adjacent to the Horace W. Moody Intramural Sports Complex a “landmark moment.” According to the university, it is the first phase of a residential expansion project to offer a total of 850 beds on campus.
An analysis found a major need for more on-campus housing. Groundbreaking will start after the university closes financing for the project.
