BATON ROUGE — An adopted dog recently found himself a long way from home, but thanks to a microchip, the the dog is back with his owner.
Back in February 2024, Michael Franklin, form Houston, adopted his dog, Burken, from the Houston SPCA. Sometime after he was adopted, Burken went missing, and the two were separated for more than a year. Michael didn’t know if he’d ever see Burken again.
On June 5, 2026, that all changed when Burken was taken to Companion Animal Alliance (CAA) as a stray after someone found him in Louisiana. During intake, the CAA team scanned him for a microchip, and was able to quickly identify and contact Franklin…
