Louisiana woman’s HIV story aims to break stigma on testing day

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — More than two decades after being diagnosed with HIV, a Baton Rouge woman is sharing her story to encourage others to get tested and to help break the stigma surrounding the virus.

Joyce Turner was diagnosed with HIV at 52 years old. Now 76, she said the diagnosis did not define her life and wants others to know that HIV is a manageable medical condition.
